Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Parker and her team also enjoy treating children. This means that your entire family can receive dental care at the same office. We want all of our patients to enjoy coming to the dentist. The earlier you expose your child to the dental office the better. We will begin seeing children around the age of 2. The idea is to make dental visits fun and hopefully establish a lifetime of good habits.

Mercury-Free Dentist

Advances in technology have allowed white composite fillings to be placed rather than the silver amalgam fillings which contain mercury. If you have a cavity that can be restored with a filling, Dr. Parker will use the white composite material to restore the tooth.

Sleep Apnea

A sleep disorder that causes breathing to repeatedly start and stop. As with snoring, the soft tissues at the back of your throat become constricted while you are sleeping. It can deprive you of oxygen leading to fatigue, waking up throughout the night, gasping for breath, and increased risk of heart attack and stroke. It can sometimes be treated with a simple oral device that can open up your airway.

Night Guards

Teeth grinding or clenching, also known as bruxism, is common and can be painful and destructive to teeth. Some people are not even aware of their own grinding. If you wake up with headaches, jaw soreness, face pain, teeth soreness, or fatigue, you may be grinding your teeth. Most cases of bruxism can be treated by wearing a night guard when you sleep.

Tooth Extractions

Complete removal of a tooth is sometimes necessary. Reasons for extraction include decay, infection, periodontal disease, trauma, or fracture.

Cleanings and Oral Exams

Dr. Parker will perform an exam at your cleaning appointment to look for signs of cancer or precancerous conditions in your mouth. The goal of an oral cancer screening is to identify mouth cancer early, so there is a greater chance for a cure.

Oral Cancer Screenings

This procedure is used to look for signs of cancer or precancerous conditions in your mouth. This is usually taken care of during your routine dental visit.

Nitrous Oxide

If you are someone who is anxious about having dental work done, nitrous oxide may help you feel more comfortable during procedures. It is sometimes referred to as “laughing gas.” Nitrous Oxide is a safe and effective sedative agent. It is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a mask that fits over your nose. At the end of the appointment you will be given oxygen for at least 5 minutes and the effects of the nitrous oxide are reversed.
